Audra's versatility and breadth as an artist is second to none. She has won seven Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award. Her record-breaking success includes 6 Tony Awards two Grammy Awards as well as the Emmy Award in 2015 she was ranked among Time magazine's 100 most influential people and received the National Medal of Art, which is America's highest award for accomplishment in this field -- from President Barack Obama. Because of her stunning soprano's tone and unsurpassed gift to tell dramatic stories her success has been evident both on Broadway and at the opera and for television and film. Alongside performing on stage, she has built a career that has a substantial recording and concert career. She regularly performs at the most prestigious places. She was born into a musical family. McDonald grew up living in Fresno California and received her classical vocal training at New York's Juilliard School. Following her graduation, she was awarded her first Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for Carousel at Lincoln Center Theater (1994). After four more years of being in the Broadway premieres of Master Class by Terrence M. McNally (1996) in addition to Ragtime (1998), she was awarded two more Tony Awards. The actress won the fourth Tony in 2004 starring with Sean Diddy Combs in A Raisin in the Sun as well as the following year in. McDonald was first introduced to the television audience as a dramatic actress by Peabody Award winning CBS's Having Our Say the Delany Sisters first 100 years. The following year, McDonald appeared alongside Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale in the film The Bite, a pandemic film produced by Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios. McDonald was first seen in the CBS show The Good Wife as a legal actress The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick from 2009 until 2018, reprised these role (now called Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight in the role of a Paramount+ season regular. McDonald received nominations to win Three Critics Choice Award awards. Presently, she is a guest star in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which is telecast on HBO.
